Posted 3/13/09 Brandy Wingate,Proposed Bill Requires Legislature to Approve All Rules of Civil or Appellate Procedure Adopted by Supreme Court:
Representative Dunnam (D-Waco) filed HB 2701, which would allow the Texas Supreme Court to promulgate rules of procedure only during the first 95 days of a regular legislative session. The rules would only become effective upon a joint resolution of the legislature during the regular session. The rules remain in effect until disapproved by the legislature by law. http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/81R/billtext/pdf/HB02702I.pdf (last visited Mar. 13, 2009)
