Grants Now Available from the Litigation Section of the State Bar

The Litigation Section is now accepting applications for both its grant and internship programs for the 2019-2020 bar year. Internship applications are due by February 15, 2020. Grants will be awarded on a rolling basis with a final application deadline of March 13, 2020. Applications and criteria are available at http://www.litigationsection.com under the “Pro Bono” tab.

Grant program

The Litigation Section is soliciting applications to fund grants for legal services projects aimed at improving the judicial system, the litigation process, or the justice system in the State of Texas, or to provide legal services for which there is a demonstrated need. Grants will be awarded in varying amounts totaling approximately $50,000.

Internship program

The internship program awards stipends of $4,000 each to qualifying legal aid, pro bono, or other non-profit legal services programs to sponsor law students in summer litigation internships. Award recipients select and hire their choice of intern and design their own internship curriculum. These internships allow students the opportunity to work with staff attorneys full-time for ten weeks, providing direct legal services to low-income clients and offering invaluable real-life experience for each law student.
